Job description

Role overview

The Sustainability Lead will own and advance the organisation’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) agenda. The position is responsible for making sure sustainability priorities are aligned with regulatory expectations, recognised industry practices and the company’s wider business goals. It also involves promoting responsible business methods across operations, underwriting and investment decisions.

Strategy development and execution

  • Create, improve and roll out the organisation’s sustainability and ESG roadmap so it supports the overall corporate strategy and long-term business direction.
  • Build sustainability objectives into enterprise planning while staying aligned with applicable regulations, sector guidance and international standards.
  • Keep the sustainability approach current by tracking market developments and embedding leading practices across the business.

Risk and compliance

  • Follow new ESG-related regulations, disclosure obligations and market expectations to ensure the organisation remains compliant and prepared.
  • Contribute to the design and integration of climate-aware insurance offerings and responsible investment approaches.
  • Share insights on environmental and climate-related risks that may affect customers, products and resilience across the sector.

Project leadership

  • Take sustainability initiatives from concept to delivery, ensuring strategic priorities are executed effectively.
  • Oversee project budgets, resources, outputs and timelines to support successful implementation.
  • Measure progress, assess outcomes and produce regular status and milestone updates for senior leadership and governance groups.

Stakeholder engagement

  • Work with internal teams to weave sustainability principles into day-to-day activities.
  • Interact with external stakeholders such as regulators, industry organisations and community partners.
  • Strengthen awareness and help build a sustainability-driven culture through training and communication initiatives.

Reporting and transparency

  • Develop sustainability reports that follow recognised global reporting standards.
  • Monitor ESG performance indicators and present them to senior management and external stakeholders.

Innovation and advocacy

  • Spot opportunities for green insurance products and sustainable investment approaches.
  • Promote sustainability education and awareness across the organisation.
