Job description

About Kraken

Kraken builds technology for the global energy sector, with a focus on helping create a smarter and more sustainable energy system. Its platforms support renewable optimisation, improved grid intelligence, and better customer experiences for utilities around the world.

The company is at a particularly exciting stage for the energy industry and is working to make a meaningful contribution to a cleaner future.

About Kraken Distribution

Kraken Distribution is a newer, fast-expanding product area that supports distribution network operators through the energy transition. As power systems deal with increasing grid congestion, bidirectional energy flows, more distributed assets such as solar PV, EVs, and batteries, and growing data complexity, this product line helps utilities modernise how they plan, run, and evolve their networks.

The aim is to enable grids that are smarter, more adaptable, and more focused on customer needs.

Why This Role Matters

As Kraken Distribution scales in Australia and internationally, the business needs support in sharpening strategic analysis, improving go-to-market execution, strengthening commercial communication, and building reliable operating rhythms. This role helps the team grow with clarity, discipline, and credibility.

About the Role

As a Strategy & Operations Senior Associate, you will work closely with the Strategy & Operations Lead and the General Manager of Kraken Distribution to shape strategy, support go-to-market planning, and help operationalise a rapidly growing product vertical.

You will take ownership of analytical projects from start to finish, converting unclear business questions into structured analysis, models, and decision-ready materials that help leadership move faster and support customer-facing progress. The role involves close collaboration with teams across product, delivery, market development, marketing, and sales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic planning work by managing analysis streams, building financial models such as investment cases and growth forecasts, and turning findings into clear recommendations for the Kraken Distribution leadership team.
  • Collect and interpret market, competitor, and customer intelligence to guide go-to-market planning and execution, including target market assessment, prospect analysis, positioning, regulatory considerations, market development, and differentiated value propositions.
  • Prepare executive-level content that supports commercial execution and cross-functional alignment, including sales enablement, client workshops, customer-specific value assessments, and thought leadership materials.
  • Work with product, sales, marketing, and delivery teams to coordinate execution and improve alignment across the business.
  • Support operational programmes such as internal audits and compliance-related activities to help maintain contractual compliance and preserve delivery confidence.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in strategy, go-to-market, management consulting, or another analytical role with a strong execution focus; experience in energy or technology/SaaS is especially preferred.
  • Proven ability to carry out rigorous, high-impact analysis, including work such as market entry assessments, commercial or value-case development, and go-to-market initiatives.
  • Strong capability in solving problems analytically, structuring ambiguous issues, and converting analysis into practical recommendations.
  • Comfort using data tools such as Excel, SQL, and BI platforms to support strategic and go-to-market decisions.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills across functions such as product, engineering, delivery, market development, marketing, and sales.
  • Solid project management ability, including handling multiple priorities, parallel workstreams, and deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create concise executive-ready narratives and present them to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial judgement and business understanding, including the ability to assess trade-offs and connect analysis to business outcomes; exposure to tech/SaaS, CRM, or energy technology platforms is an advantage.
  • A curious, practical, and self-starting approach, with the ability to work independently, adapt quickly, and build knowledge of energy markets and distribution utilities rapidly.
  • 3+ years of experience is the minimum experience expectation for this role.
