The Team
Kraken was founded in 2011 and is among the longest-running crypto platforms worldwide, serving more than 10 million individuals and institutions. Its offerings include spot trading, margin, futures, staking, and OTC services for both retail and institutional users.
This role is for a senior-level product designer who will shape the direction of key areas inside the main Kraken app, with broad influence and high ownership. The position is hands-on and strategic, focused on improving experiences used by millions of people globally.

Key Responsibilities
- Define and raise the design standard across important product areas, establishing a clear vision for what excellent design should look like.
- Tackle complex, uncertain problem spaces and turn them into simple, refined, and scalable product experiences.
- Create polished, future-facing visual design work that strengthens the brand and sets a strong benchmark for the market.
- Help develop and refine the design system and visual language so the product stays consistent and scalable.
- Work closely with product, engineering, and leadership teams to shape strategy and roadmap choices, not only implementation details.
- Bring alignment across functions by giving structure, clarity, and direction to shared initiatives.
- Support the growth of other designers through mentorship, feedback, and hands-on collaboration.
- Advocate for strong craft and user experience, encouraging stakeholders to maintain high standards across the company.
- Use customer research, product data, and experimentation to guide decisions and improve outcomes over time.
- Run design critiques and help build a team culture centered on feedback, rigor, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience in product design, supported by a portfolio that shows strong craft and measurable impact, especially in mobile app products.
- Proven success leading design for large and complex product areas while delivering high-quality results.
- Strong user experience and visual design capabilities, with a history of resolving vague problems in a clear and elegant way.
- Advanced prototyping ability to explain complex interactions and concepts effectively.
- Experience shaping product strategy and contributing to cross-functional decisions at the team or organization level.
- Strong systems-thinking mindset, including work on design systems at scale or helping evolve them.
- Ability to coach and elevate other designers through constructive feedback, collaboration, and example.
- A data-aware approach that balances user needs, business goals, and technical realities.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the confidence to present and defend design choices to varied stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of human-centered design principles and research methods, and the ability to apply them in complex settings.
- Experience with trading or financial products is considered an advantage.
