About the Role

Metalcorp, BlueScope’s rural-focused steel and aluminium distribution brand, is hiring a Storeperson for its Charters Towers site. Metalcorp supplies a broad range of products for regional and rural customers, including livestock handling equipment, building materials, structural and tubular steel, fencing, roofing, aluminium, and related products.

This position supports warehouse and yard operations to help ensure products are prepared and delivered safely and on time. The work involves assisting with packaging, loading, securing loads, operating forklifts for receiving and dispatch, picking and packing customer orders, and handling general yard tasks.

Working Pattern and Pay

This is a permanent full-time day-shift role with a standard Monday to Friday, 38-hour workweek. Regular hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday, and 8:00am to 4:00pm on Friday. There is also an opportunity to work overtime on Saturday mornings.

The role offers a competitive weekly wage, with eligibility for overtime shift allowances. Pay will depend on licences/tickets held and previous experience. The package also includes participation in the Profit Share Program.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Contribute to a safe work environment and help uphold site safety practices
  • Use forklifts to load and unload trucks and deliveries
  • Pick and pack orders accurately for customer dispatch
  • Carry out general yard-related duties as required

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is dependable, committed, and willing to learn and grow. You should be comfortable working outdoors, able to operate effectively in a small team, and capable of performing in a fast-moving environment. A strong focus on personal safety and looking out for others is essential.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Forklift / High Risk Licence
  • Positive approach to outdoor work
  • Ability to work well in a small, close-knit team and in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong commitment to personal safety, wellbeing, and the safety of others
  • Current Heavy Rigid (HR) manual licence is desirable
