Role overview
The Storeperson/Driver supports warehouse and stores operations by managing physical stock as well as inventory records in electronic systems. The role also involves making approved pickups and deliveries using a company vehicle, handling inbound and outbound movements, preparing stock and kits, and maintaining accurate reporting. This position works under general supervision.
Key duties
- Maintain end-to-end control of Cubic assets stored in the Brisbane warehouse and moved between pickup and delivery points.
- Support inventory controls, work instructions, and standard operating procedures in line with the quality system.
- Receive and issue stock, including manual handling of incoming goods and prompt entry of receipts and stock movements into the warehouse asset system.
- Make sure all equipment is handled correctly, programmed properly, and tracked accurately in both physical and digital records.
- Carry out cycle counts, stocktakes, and quantity checks, and help resolve any stock mismatches.
- Monitor usage of equipment and consumables, and arrange replenishment so commonly used modules and supplies are available when needed.
- Transport returns, equipment, and other items between customer depots in South-East Queensland, Cubic sites, and external suppliers using a company vehicle.
- Handle inbound and outbound movements, including communication with freight providers and third-party suppliers.
- Process returned items from customers and installation teams.
- Enter information accurately and on time in ServiceNow to support inventory control.
- Ensure parts are received in ServiceNow by Cubic field service technicians before they leave the warehouse.
- Assemble bus installation kits according to SOPs.
- Perform vehicle audits, checks, and stocktakes for field service vehicles as required by process or management direction.
- Assist with annual audits, monthly asset reconciliation, and reporting/distribution to customers.
- Escalate operational issues to the Asset Manager or other appropriate leaders for resolution.
- Create workshop RMA jobs for faulty items or stock returned from the field.
- Share inventory process knowledge with the Services team.
- Maintain a strong understanding of workplace health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Participate in safety issue resolution, investigations, and audits, including those involving manual handling and hazardous materials.
- Report incidents, hazards, near misses, and accidents quickly and accurately.
Additional responsibilities
- Follow Cubic’s Quality Management System.
- Comply with occupational health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Observe security requirements in line with company policies and procedures.
- Follow Human Resources procedures.
- Carry out other duties when requested.
Qualifications and licence requirements
- Current Queensland driver’s licence with a clean record and no major infringements.
- High-Risk Work licence for Forklift Truck (LF), or a willingness to obtain one.
- Year 12 school certificate is highly desirable.
- Certificate II or III in Warehousing Operations, Logistics, or a related field is desirable.
Experience and skills
- Previous experience in a stores environment or within warehousing and logistics.
- Working knowledge of ServiceNow.
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills, including reading documents, using computers and smartphones, and doing basic calculations.
- Comfortable working in a busy, hands-on environment.
- Strong customer service approach with a focus on positive outcomes for stakeholders.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with customers, suppliers, and contractors while representing the business professionally.
