Job description
About the Role
JD Group, founded in 1981, is a major omni-channel retailer focused on sports fashion, outdoor products, and gym-related retail. The business has grown from a single store in Northwest England to a globally recognised company listed on the London Stock Exchange since 1996 and part of the FTSE100 since 2019. The organisation is aiming to remain a leading worldwide omnichannel retailer in the sports and outdoor sector, with a strong emphasis on people, innovation, customer service, operational excellence, and growth.
As a Store Colleague, you will contribute to a fast-moving retail environment where customer experience, presentation, and teamwork are central. The role is designed for someone who enjoys working on the shop floor, supporting customers, and helping maintain a high standard across the store.
What You Will Do
- Greet customers in a warm, confident, and energetic manner, offering support and helping them find products that suit their needs.
- Use store technology and devices to check inventory, provide product information, and support the customer journey.
- Keep the sales floor neat, organised, and replenished so displays remain attractive and aligned with brand standards.
- Assist with everyday store activities such as till handling, stock replenishment, and adherence to safety and operating procedures.
What We Are Looking For
- A positive and enthusiastic approach suited to a busy, customer-led retail setting.
- Good communication skills and the confidence to interact with customers and colleagues effectively.
- A willingness to learn, take on new duties, and develop within a supportive team environment.
- Flexibility to work different shifts, including evenings, weekends, and peak seasonal trading periods.
- A proactive mindset with an interest in supporting sales opportunities and delivering strong service.
- Attention to detail to keep the shop floor looking polished and ready for customers.
Benefits and Perks
- Incremental holiday allowance.
- Staff discount on qualifying purchases across Group retail stores and online.
- Exclusive colleague bike discount scheme.
- Discounted gym membership.
- Opportunities for personal development and on-the-job learning.
- Access to apprenticeships and accredited qualifications.
Additional Information
The hourly pay for this position is £12.81.
The company states that it is an equal opportunity employer and aims to provide a workplace where every colleague is respected, valued, and supported. Diversity is actively welcomed, and all team members are encouraged to contribute meaningfully regardless of background or identity.
