Job description
Role overview
We are seeking a motivated and caring Registered Nurse to join the Acute Surgical Assessment team on Ward 5C within the Surgical Directorate. This is a busy, high-pressure ward that accepts direct admissions across several surgical specialities, including General Surgery, Colorectal, Upper GI and Urology.
What the role involves
You will work in an acute surgical environment where priorities can change quickly. The role calls for someone with excellent clinical judgement and strong communication skills, who can adapt confidently to the demands of a fast-moving ward. You will be involved in assessing and admitting patients, supporting safe care delivery, and contributing to improvement activity within the team.
There will also be opportunities to build experience in triage and shift coordination, while receiving full training and clinical development support. Surgical experience is helpful but not mandatory.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate will be flexible, calm under pressure, and committed to person-centred care. We want someone who sets a positive example for others, helps maintain a supportive team environment, and consistently promotes safe and compassionate nursing practice.
