Job description
Role Overview
This position focuses on the daily oversight of marine operations, providing hands-on support to keep fleet and asset tracking running smoothly and to quickly address operational issues as they arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Track vessel and asset activity each day, making sure procedures are followed and fleet performance remains strong.
- Deliver live monitoring support for vessels underway using the available operational tools.
- Work with business units to help achieve safe, cost-effective voyages and keep watch on alerts and notifications in line with standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate with ship and vessel crews to troubleshoot routing, berthing, and maintenance concerns using data-led analysis.
- Recommend ways to improve vessel performance, fuel economy, and operating methods based on IoT sensor information.
- Contribute continuously to process improvements within Milahi and help business units reduce operational bottlenecks.
- Maintain fleet performance dashboards so stakeholders receive reliable and useful data.
- Support operational planning to reduce the impact of disruptions such as adverse weather, port congestion, and maintenance requirements.
- Assist vessels in meeting international pollution-prevention rules through the appropriate selection of fuel grades.
Education and Certification Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Nautical Science or a closely related discipline is required.
- A certificate in Shipping Operations and Management is required.
- Professional certifications such as STCW II/2 certificate of competency are expected.
Experience and Language Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience at sea is required, including a minimum of 2 years serving as a first officer.
- Navigation experience is required.
- Strong English communication skills are essential.
- Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the cluster footprint is considered an advantage.
Functional Skills and Competencies
- Hands-on experience in maritime fleet efficiency, performance management, and asset monitoring.
- Ability to work with real-time data from AIS, radar, and IoT sensors.
- Strong analytical capability for turning data into performance and compliance improvements.
- Effective stakeholder coordination and familiarity with international maritime regulations.
- Good communication skills, conflict handling ability, and composure in high-pressure situations.
