Job description
Role Overview
This position is responsible for overseeing both scheduled and unscheduled inspections of free zone companies involved in marine activities. The role works closely with an external inspection partner to help ensure that operations across the free zone remain safe and compliant.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop the inspection schedule for service providers and operational companies in the free zone, and make sure it is carried out effectively.
- Coordinate with the MAQTA gateway platform and the DED permit system to support the issuance of No Objection Certificates and operational permits.
- Assess the performance of the inspection team and confirm that inspected entities meet safety, security, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Review the violations database and fine-related records to ensure they are accurate and up to date.
- Examine inspection findings, violation reports, company observations, and progress updates, then prepare corrective recommendations in line with department requirements for approval by the department head and onward submission to the relevant authority.
- Prepare and submit inspection KPI reports along with related recommendations to the department.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders so that services are delivered to high standards.
People Management
- Oversee the day-to-day scheduling of inspection specialists.
Strategic Contribution
- Contribute to improving inspection effectiveness by identifying opportunities to strengthen the regulatory framework for companies.
Qualifications and Experience
A bachelor’s degree is required in engineering, HSE, civil engineering, business management, or a related equivalent discipline. The candidate should have proven experience in HSEQ or OSHAD functions, with hands-on inspection experience. A background in free zones or economic zones is required. The role also requires 5 to 6 years of relevant professional experience.
Language Requirements
Professional fluency in both Arabic and English is required.
