About Sonder
Sonder focuses on helping people feel protected, supported, and able to perform at their best wherever they are. The company combines technology with human-led expertise to improve workplace health, safety, and wellbeing.
Its mobile platform offers round-the-clock, real-time access to a dedicated group of safety, medical, and mental health professionals. In urgent situations, the team can also provide physical, on-the-ground support for time-sensitive incidents.
Using live insights, Sonder helps organisations act early and build healthier, safer workplaces that also support business performance.
Founded in 2017, Sonder has grown quickly and now operates across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. The business is backed by Seek and Blackbird and works with corporations, educational institutions, and government agencies.
The organisation supports more than 1,000,000 members across multiple countries and has a team of 200+ employees, along with a broad responder network.
About the Role
This role sits within Sonder’s Response Network and involves delivering face-to-face support to members who need assistance, working closely with the Support Centre. People with experience in the relevant industries are welcome to apply, and the role offers flexibility through an on-call arrangement.
The position is best suited to someone based in, or near, Whangarei/Northland, New Zealand. You will join the network in a casual capacity and help grow Sonder’s presence in New Zealand from the ground up.
Responders operate on a flexible 24-hour on-call roster. You can nominate your own availability, and payment is provided for both on-call availability when required and for incident response work.
Additional Responsibilities
When needed, you may also support the Response Network Manager with stakeholder engagement, relationship building, training, operational input, and emergency or non-emergency response activity in your area.
Who This Role Suits
The role is intended for experienced people from the military, law enforcement, mental health, emergency services, or security-related fields who are motivated by helping others. Strong judgement, calm decision-making, and empathy are essential.
Requirements
- Recent or current experience in Australia in emergency services, military, or security-related work, plus a solid local network of contacts.
- Ability to stay self-directed, motivated, and organised.
- Comfort with setting priorities, identifying key issues, making fast decisions, and remaining sensitive to others.
- Availability to work a flexible on-call roster.
- Completion of a National Police Check and WWCC is required for all employees; recent clearances should be mentioned in the application.
