Job description
About the company
The role sits within Betway Africa, part of Super Group, a digital gaming business listed on the NYSE and known for leading sports and iGaming brands. Betway operates across eight African markets and has built a highly active sports-betting audience. Social media is a key channel for connecting with fans, celebrating sport, and strengthening brand affinity in a competitive market.
Role overview
As Social Media Manager for Betway Ghana, you will be responsible for the full social media function in your market. This includes strategy, content planning, community engagement, reactive marketing, sponsorship activation, and performance. You will shape the brand’s voice across major platforms and work closely with Creative, Sponsorship, Digital, and agency teams while reporting to headquarters in South Africa.
What you will do
- Develop and continuously improve the social media strategy for the Ghana market across Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and new platforms as they emerge.
- Run the always-on content calendar, covering planned, seasonal, and reactive content, and ensure delivery against both commercial and brand goals.
- Set the channel-specific approach for format, posting cadence, tone of voice, and audience targeting.
- Maintain a balanced content mix of 50% proactive and 50% reactive activity so the brand stays both prepared and responsive.
- Promote a social-first mindset internally and help stakeholders understand how social media supports the wider marketing plan.
- Brief, supervise, and quality-check all social content, including campaign materials and real-time reactive posts.
- Collaborate with creators, agencies, and production teams to build platform-native assets such as short-form video, graphics, carousels, stories, user-generated content, and live event coverage.
- Make sure all content follows Ghanaian responsible gambling rules and the brand’s guidelines.
- Lead community management standards, including tone of voice, response expectations, and escalation processes.
- Develop strong relationships with the local community, including players, influencers, and media contacts.
- Track audience sentiment, spot trending conversations, and share timely insights with the content and brand teams.
- Handle complaints, sensitive issues, and crisis situations in a calm and policy-aligned way.
- Spot opportunities for user-generated content and encourage authentic participation from players.
- Create social-first briefing plans for brand activations instead of adapting ATL campaigns directly for social.
- Manage live matchday and event-day execution, including live blogs and second-screen content.
- Support influencer activity by helping activate local talent agencies, creators, and relevant personalities.
- Work with country management to identify local content opportunities tied to cultural and sporting moments.
- Carry out other reasonable duties as needed to support business objectives.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing social media for a major brand in Ghana; experience in sports, media, entertainment, betting, or gaming is a strong plus.
- Hands-on experience owning a content calendar from planning through to performance review.
- Experience working with or briefing agencies and content creators.
- Previous exposure to sponsorship activation or rights-holder social content is highly advantageous.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline.
- Strong ability in graphic design tools and content creation.
- Core behavioural strengths: adaptability, accountability, initiative, resilience, teamwork, integrity, and innovation.
Perks and benefits
- Access to learning and development programmes designed to help you grow your skills and advance your career.
- Regular constructive feedback through the company’s Performance Tool.
- Employee Assistance Programme support for you and your family.
- An inclusive, diverse, and supportive workplace across a global group.
