Job description
About Arena Physica
Arena Physica is focused on speeding up hardware breakthroughs that advance human progress. The company takes its name from Theodore Roosevelt’s “Citizenship in a Republic” speech, reflecting a philosophy of committing fully to ambitious work even when failure is possible. The team believes the future will be shaped by people willing to build boldly.
The company has a team of 50 people spanning AI engineering and applied physics, with deep experience in enterprise deployments. It is headquartered in New York City and also has a presence in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Arena Physica is supported by about $90M in funding from Initialized, Founders Fund, Goldcrest Capital, Fifth Down Capital, and Shield Capital.
What the Company Does
Arena Physica is developing electromagnetic superintelligence. Its AI platform, Atlas, uses physics-grounded intelligence to verify, debug, and optimize hardware throughout its lifecycle. Atlas is already used by leading hardware companies worldwide, including AMD, Anduril, and Bausch & Lomb, across R&D, integration testing, production assembly, and field repair.
Role Overview
As a founding member of the communications team, you will define how the public understands Arena Physica. You will shape the company narrative around electromagnetic superintelligence, build relationships with the right journalists, and develop channels that help a frontier technology earn attention.
In this role, you will work on fast timelines, moving between media outreach, social media management, and identifying opportunities to tell the company’s story. You will also act as a strategic partner to customer communications and marketing leaders on joint storytelling, while collaborating with external writers to share Arena Physica’s perspective.
This position is ideal for someone who wants to build a company voice from the ground up. You will have significant autonomy, work closely with leadership on what to share and what to keep internal, and handle some of the company’s most sensitive and high-stakes moments.
Responsibilities
- Develop and place media stories by building strong relationships with reporters at respected and top-tier outlets, especially those covering hardware, deep tech, and AI.
- Manage the company’s social media presence, including voice, cadence, and overall growth across public channels.
- Coordinate co-marketing efforts with customer and partner communications teams to create shared stories that benefit both sides.
- Identify and work with external authors to create thought leadership content that communicates the company’s ideas and point of view.
- Travel domestically and internationally for up to 30% of the time.
- Work onsite at Arena Physica’s New York City headquarters when not traveling.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of communications experience, ideally in policy, government, or similarly high-scrutiny environments.
- A well-established network of reporters and editors, particularly at top-tier and respected publications, with strong relationships in hardware and/or AI.
- A proven record of expanding brand visibility, audience reach, and reputation over time.
- Strong writing and speaking skills with the ability to adapt messages from concise statements to op-eds, campaigns, and executive guidance.
- Experience advising communications during critical situations, including major announcements and sensitive disclosures.
- Creative, resourceful, and able to take an idea from concept through execution.
Benefits & Perks
- The company covers 100% of monthly premiums for Aetna medical, vision, and dental insurance for employees and their dependents.
- 401(k) retirement plan.
- Unlimited paid time off.
- Daily lunch from local restaurants through Sharebite.
- Relocation assistance.
Additional Information
This is a full-time, onsite role based in the New York City Metropolitan Area. The position involves frequent coordination with leadership and external stakeholders, and may require discretion when handling sensitive or high-stakes communications.
