Role Overview
This position is for a SharePoint Architect responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting SharePoint Online as the organization’s central platform for enterprise document management. The work centers on information architecture, taxonomy, governance, and secure content handling, with a strong emphasis on scalability, compliance, and collaboration. The role also supports modernization from legacy file shares and helps improve how documents are accessed and managed across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain SharePoint Online as the organization’s document management platform.
- Build and enforce taxonomy, governance, access control, and migration strategies for content stored in legacy file shares.
- Ensure the SharePoint solution is secure, scalable, compliant, and aligned with business requirements.
- Work in partnership with architects, developers, and business teams to support enterprise transformation goals.
Platform Design and Administration
- Create and implement SharePoint Online architecture using a Hub and Spoke model.
- Set up and manage SharePoint Admin Center configurations.
- Define site collections, document libraries, and the overall information architecture.
- Maintain performance, scalability, and usability across the SharePoint environment.
Governance and Compliance
- Establish governance standards and ensure they are followed across SharePoint usage.
- Implement data security controls, RBAC, and permission structures.
- Apply Microsoft Purview labels, retention settings, and compliance safeguards.
- Make sure the platform meets internal policies and regulatory expectations.
Content Management and Taxonomy
- Create and maintain metadata models, taxonomy structures, and content types.
- Develop organized document classification frameworks.
- Standardize naming rules and document lifecycle policies.
Migration and Transformation
- Plan and carry out migration from legacy file shares into SharePoint Online.
- Use ShareGate or SPMT for migration execution.
- Handle mapping, validation, and post-migration verification activities.
- Protect data integrity and keep business disruption to a minimum during migration.
Automation and Integration
- Create workflows using Power Automate.
- Connect SharePoint with other systems using Microsoft Graph API at a basic level.
- Automate approvals, notifications, and document lifecycle steps.
Operations and Support
- Handle L2 and L3 support issues related to permissions, access, and performance.
- Track SharePoint usage, storage, and platform health.
- Diagnose and resolve issues affecting sites, access, and content.
- Guide end users and stakeholders on best practices.
Collaboration and Delivery
- Contribute to planning, design, testing, and deployment phases.
- Work with infrastructure, security, business, and development teams.
- Lead documentation, knowledge transfer, and training activities.
- Ensure deliverables support the objectives of the transformation program.
