Job description

About the Company

Inkitt is positioning itself as a next-generation entertainment company powered by technology and AI. Using predictive algorithms, it identifies promising stories, converts them into major hits, and distributes them directly to consumers through its Galatea app. The company says it releases a new $1M ebook every four weeks and has become the 11th largest publisher by bestseller generation, with a hit rate that it says is 40 times higher than traditional publishing. Backed by investors such as Khosla, Kleiner Perkins, and NEA Ventures, and recently expanded into CandyJarTV, the company is continuing to grow as a broader entertainment platform.

Role Overview

The SEO Lead will own the company-wide search strategy across Inkitt, Galatea, and Candy Jar. This role blends technical SEO, content optimization, analytics, and cross-functional execution to improve organic visibility, grow audiences, and support measurable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for shaping and executing the SEO roadmap, identifying opportunities, and turning them into actionable improvements across the company’s digital properties.

  • Define and lead the overall SEO strategy, bringing together technical, content, and off-page efforts across all relevant brands.
  • Run technical audits and improve crawlability, indexation, internal linking, Core Web Vitals, structured data, and sitemap performance.
  • Develop keyword frameworks, find high-value topic opportunities, and guide content planning to align with search intent.
  • Optimize on-page elements such as metadata, headings, alt text, schema, and internal links on priority pages and content collections.
  • Build and maintain SEO reporting dashboards, track core performance metrics, and present insights using tools like GA4, GSC, and Ahrefs.
  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to implement SEO best practices and test growth ideas.
  • Drive content freshness, authority-building efforts, and outreach initiatives to strengthen visibility and domain strength.
  • Analyze competitors and market trends to identify gaps and expansion opportunities.
  • Experiment continuously with site structure, copy, and technical changes to improve organic performance.

Requirements

The ideal candidate brings strong SEO depth, analytical thinking, and a track record of improving results for consumer or content-focused brands.

  • 6 to 8+ years of SEO experience with proven impact in high-traffic consumer or content-led businesses.
  • Strong command of technical SEO, content optimization, and performance analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with GA4, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and similar platforms.
  • Ability to collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to prioritize and deliver SEO improvements.
  • Comfort using data to shape decisions and measure outcomes.
  • Background in a startup or fast-growing environment is preferred.
  • Action-oriented mindset with a focus on execution and results.
  • A balance of strategic thinking and hands-on problem solving.
  • Clear communicator who works well with cross-functional partners and leadership.
  • Detail-focused, persistent, and able to diagnose issues independently.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, experimental, ownership-driven culture.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Self-directed and able to work independently.
  • Someone who brings solutions rather than just raising problems.
  • Strongly data-led in approach.
  • Quick to take action.
  • Thrives in a high-performance, intense work environment.
  • Interested in rapid career growth.
  • Enjoys building a large-scale AI and entertainment company.

Perks and Benefits

  • 401(k) plan to support long-term savings.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Professional coaching for all employees.
  • Team-building activities, including an annual trip to Tulum.
  • Unlimited access to Galatea and CandyJar TV.
  • Unlimited budget for self-development books.
  • A charitable donation of your choice after one year with the company.
  • Free lunch at the office every day.
  • ClassPass membership for US-based employees and gym access for Berlin employees.
  • Dog-friendly offices in San Francisco and Berlin.
