Job description
About the Company
Datacom brings together people and technology to help communities solve problems, open up new opportunities, and build better ways of working.
About the Role
This is a senior opportunity to lead the vision and delivery of data and integration platforms for a rapidly growing payroll SaaS business. You will be accountable for turning complex payroll-related needs into scalable platform solutions that deliver measurable value for customers and their employees.
The role involves shaping platform direction, setting ambitious roadmaps, and guiding a group of product managers, while contributing at executive level discussions. You will manage the full product lifecycle from discovery through launch, monetisation, and ongoing enhancement, balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution in a highly data-driven, API-focused environment.
Cross-functional leadership is central to the position. You will bring engineering, design, marketing, customer success, and sales together around a shared product vision, promote a servant-leadership mindset, and help deliver outcomes that support adoption and commercial growth.
The business is hiring two people for two separate openings in this function.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Vision
- Help define and evolve the long-term roadmap for the data and/or integration platforms so it supports company goals, customer priorities, and the wider product portfolio.
- Communicate a clear product direction that unites teams and supports leadership-level investment decisions.
- Contribute to OKR definition and governance, making sure outcomes are tracked, reviewed, and acted on.
- Keep an eye on market movements, competitor activity, and changing customer needs to guide platform decisions.
Product Delivery
- Own business outcome delivery across the full lifecycle of the platform, from discovery through launch, monetisation, and iteration.
- Set strong standards for roadmap planning, backlog ordering, specification quality, and acceptance criteria.
- Make sure technical choices reflect both strategy and customer value in close partnership with engineering and architecture teams.
- Lead complex launches spanning multiple workstreams, managing dependencies, risk, and stakeholder communication.
Platform Quality & Governance
- Establish and maintain standards for scalability, reliability, security, and compliance as the customer base grows.
- Build governance, security, and compliance needs into the product process from discovery through delivery.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Develop strong working relationships with senior leaders across engineering, go-to-market, and customer-facing teams.
- Serve as a key alignment point for product decisions across the data and/or integration platform.
- Work with go-to-market, professional services, and customer success teams to drive adoption and help customers realise the platform’s full value.
- Run discovery, prioritisation, and alignment discussions with customers, partners, and internal teams.
- Bring customer and market insight into planning conversations so decisions are evidence-based and practical.
Leadership & Culture
- Coach and support product managers in their growth and development.
- Set clear expectations for product management practices, behaviours, and standards.
- Help build a high-performing culture rooted in curiosity, teamwork, customer empathy, and continuous learning.
Requirements
- Strong background in data and/or integration technologies, architecture, and platform design.
- Working knowledge of cloud ecosystems and enterprise infrastructure concepts.
- Good understanding of API management, integration approaches, and data access methods.
- Advanced knowledge of product management methods and agile delivery practices.
- Clear understanding of SaaS business models, performance metrics, and commercialisation approaches.
- Proven experience as a Senior Product Manager or Technical Product Manager in a SaaS or platform environment.
- Track record of contributing to product strategy and roadmaps that support business objectives.
- Extensive experience managing technical products end-to-end, from discovery through commercial launch.
- Experience building or scaling enterprise data or integration platforms.
- Hands-on exposure to API management and integration orchestration at enterprise scale.
- Ability to mentor product managers, or readiness to step into that responsibility.
- Nice-to-have experience with enterprise data platform architectures and modern analytical databases.
- Familiarity with business intelligence and self-service analytics concepts is desirable.
- Payroll, HR technology, or fintech domain knowledge is an advantage.
- Exposure to data mesh, data fabric, or federated data architecture concepts is beneficial.
- Understanding of agentic AI use cases in data and integration domains is a plus.
