The company operates across global offices, employs more than 6,500 people, and records annual revenue of over $1.5 billion, placing it among Australasia’s largest professional IT services businesses. Its capabilities span data centre operations, IT services, software engineering, application management, payroll, and customer service design and operations. Datacom works with a broad portfolio of major clients and is focused on attracting, developing, and advancing talent from diverse backgrounds while maintaining a local, people-first culture with global capability.

About the role

The Senior Product Analyst will partner closely with Product Managers, Product Leads, Engineering, and QA teams to uncover requirements and shape customer-focused solutions. Based in the Datascape team, you will contribute to enterprise software used by councils across Australia and New Zealand. The role involves detailed analysis across multiple teams as the business prepares to release new features to its customer base during a period of fast growth.

Key focus areas

  • Work collaboratively with product, engineering, QA, and design teams to define practical solutions.
  • Translate complex business needs into clear analysis outputs and delivery-ready work items.
  • Support roadmap shaping, discovery, and solution design activities.
  • Help maintain strong analysis standards across the product and delivery lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Create and deliver high-quality analysis outputs covering business, product, and technology needs.
  • Take part in customer and partner research, ideation, and research-and-development activities.
  • Support the product and engineering design process.
  • Assist the Product Manager in ranking roadmap and backlog items using value, risk, impact, mapping, and dependency considerations.
  • Work with the Tech Lead and UX Lead to shape the overall solution and split it into smaller roadmap and sprint-sized deliveries.
  • Make sure the delivery team understands the problem space, that requirements are gathered properly, and that work is converted into meaningful backlog items.
  • Collaborate with the product engineering team to establish accurate estimates for developers, testers, tech leads, and scrum masters.
  • Help the Product Manager track and manage dependencies across other portfolios and squads.
  • Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions, and analysis sessions.
  • Contribute to stronger product and business analysis practices, including consistent documentation and analysis standards.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience as a Senior Product Analyst or Business Analyst, with a strong record across enterprise projects in complex environments.
  • Background in a Technical Analyst role is preferred, especially within FinTech, a Tier 1 or Tier 2 ERP vendor, or multiple Local Government business areas.
  • Excellent written communication and documentation ability, with a focus on precision, brevity, and clarity across business, product, and technical contexts.
  • Strong grasp of modern software development technologies, practices, and Agile delivery methods.
  • Solid information architecture knowledge, or a clear understanding of how knowledge is structured and connected as a system.
  • Capability to analyse complex concepts, model problems, and identify practical solutions with awareness of business impact.
  • Ability to break down large, unclear problems into well-defined solution paths.
  • Good understanding of data structures and data modelling, including how relationships are represented in SQL and translated into JSON or XML.
  • Strong collaboration and facilitation skills, including the ability to guide decisions among varied stakeholders up to executive level.
  • Confident presentation and communication skills.
  • Commercial mindset with an emphasis on increasing business and customer value.
  • Prior experience using Artificial Intelligence in a professional context.
