Job description

Role Overview

The East Village Restaurant in Douglas, Cork is hiring an experienced Senior Chef to join its busy kitchen team through Noel Group. This is a full-time, permanent position for a culinary professional ready to advance their career in a respected restaurant known for high standards, quality ingredients, and strong guest service.

In this role, you will support the Head Chef in the smooth running of the kitchen, helping to deliver consistently excellent dishes while upholding food safety and operational best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the management of the kitchen and contribute to its daily smooth operation.
  • Cook and plate dishes to a consistently high standard.
  • Guide and oversee junior kitchen staff as needed.
  • Ensure food preparation and service follow HACCP requirements.
  • Help manage stock, place orders, and reduce waste.
  • Keep the kitchen clean, orderly, and efficient at all times.
  • Contribute ideas for menu updates and seasonal specials when appropriate.
  • Maintain consistency in quality and presentation throughout all service periods.
  • Work closely with management and front-of-house colleagues.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a Senior Chef, Senior CDP, Sous Chef, or comparable kitchen leadership role.
  • Solid understanding of food preparation, kitchen processes, and food safety standards.
  • HACCP certification or practical knowledge of HACCP procedures.
  • Ability to thrive in a busy, high-pressure kitchen environment.
  • Strong planning and time management abilities.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to encourage and support team members.
  • Genuine interest in quality food and guest satisfaction.
  • Must have full legal permission to work in Ireland.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this role is €40,000 to €45,000, depending on experience.
