The person in this role will take responsibility for specific markets, building detailed knowledge of players, clubs, and market trends to identify individuals who fit the club’s sporting aims. They will prepare detailed assessments, collect intelligence from the market, and make clear, well-supported recommendations that match the club’s positional needs, playing style, and squad profile.

Key responsibilities

  • Collect information on player availability, contract status, emerging opportunities, and broader due diligence matters.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with clubs, agents, intermediaries, and other relevant stakeholders in domestic and international football.

  • Contribute to recruitment discussions, player dossiers, and succession planning.
  • Support the ongoing development of modern scouting methods and help improve the scouting process over time.

Essential requirements

  • Proven background in identifying and assessing players in professional football.
  • A clear record of recommending players who have gone on to deliver positive sporting and/or financial value.
  • Strong understanding of both domestic and international football markets.
  • Excellent technical and tactical knowledge of the game.
  • Practical experience combining video scouting, live scouting, and data analysis in the scouting workflow.
  • Strong ability to communicate, present findings, and write detailed reports.
  • Comfortable working with data and applying insights to everyday decisions.
  • Hands-on experience with scouting and video analysis tools such as Hudl Wyscout, Hudl Sportscode, Scoutastic, or similar platforms.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel extensively.

Desirable experience

  • Previous work in an elite football environment.
  • FA Talent Identification Level 3 qualification, or an equivalent award.
  • UEFA B Coaching Licence, or an equivalent qualification.

  • Enhanced family-friendly leave arrangements.
  • Pension scheme with Royal London.
  • Access to the Reward Gateway recognition and discount platform.
  • Improved CPD opportunities and structured professional development pathways.
  • Opportunities to take part in wider club initiatives through different working groups.
  • Wellbeing support, including 24/7 GP access for employees and their dependents, plus access to gyms and exercise classes at Carrow Road and the Avant Training Centre.
