Job description
About the role
The Senior Product Manager is responsible for leading product performance so it meets agreed outcomes across client experience, compliance, efficiency, profitability, and innovation. This role manages product-related risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement, while also guiding product changes to ensure policy wording remains clear, accurate, and technically robust.
The position uses the Product Development and Review Framework (PDARF) to spot opportunities, build business cases, obtain resources, and drive delivery through to completion. It also requires tracking impacts across the business and measuring whether initiatives have delivered the intended results.
In addition, this role provides day-to-day leadership, coaching, and direction to Product Managers and Product Specialists, including assigning work such as market research, product reviews, and change initiatives in support of FMG’s business goals.
Key responsibilities
- Establish clear priorities and direction for the Product Team, making sure work aligns with client outcomes, regulatory obligations, and business goals.
- Give leadership, clarity, and practical guidance to Product Managers and Product Specialists so product research, reviews, and change work are delivered effectively.
- Manage delivery and performance by coaching the team, tracking risks and issues, and ensuring product development and change activities are completed in a disciplined way through PDARF.
- Regularly review product performance throughout the lifecycle to support fair outcomes for clients and strong product results.
- Spot and assess under-performance, develop improvement actions, and prepare recommendations for the Insurance Risk Committee.
- Use deep industry knowledge to steer product development strategically and adjust products to improve performance and efficiency.
About you
- You bring more than 10 years of experience in insurance or financial services and understand markets, products, and risk well.
- You are commercially minded and consistently balance customer outcomes with compliance, business performance, and continuous improvement.
- You think strategically and analytically, take ownership, handle complexity well, and lead change confidently.
- You build strong working relationships and influence stakeholders effectively to achieve results.
- You are an experienced people leader who coaches and develops others and has delivered product and change initiatives from start to finish.
