Job description
Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support onshore operations in Qatar. The role focuses on providing strong mechanical engineering expertise across static equipment and related systems to help deliver operational integrity, reliability, and safe plant performance.
Key Accountabilities
- Deliver mechanical engineering support across piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and packaged equipment, including design reviews, commissioning, start-up support, failure analysis, advanced troubleshooting, and preparation of work packs for maintenance-related modifications.
- Establish and document practical engineering standards and recommend initiatives that improve performance.
- Offer technical guidance to other disciplines and business functions whenever required to support wider operational objectives.
- Identify issues affecting static equipment and piping, including degradation, failures, and equipment malfunctions.
- Oversee and coordinate the work performed by contractors, consultants, and service providers.
- Mentor junior engineers in applying integrity and reliability systems used by the company.
- Support the successful completion of project tie-in activities across all systems within the assigned scope.
- Track and resolve critical items through an issue register, including emerging technology risks that may affect project reliability and availability.
- Provide technical support for Management of Change activities and help identify timely solutions that preserve asset integrity, reliability, and safe continuous operations.
- Take part in Safety Workshops, Cold Eye Reviews, Value Improvement Workshops, Root Cause Failure Analysis, scenario-based risk assessments, risk screening, and Formal Risk Assessments.
Qualifications and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required. The role calls for 6 years of experience in an oil and gas environment, along with senior-engineer-level competence in line with Mechanical Technical Competencies.
Technical Requirements
Applicants should have experience with engineering calculations and verification tools such as PV Elite, CAESAR II, and Nozzle Pro. A solid understanding of pressure vessel repair and alteration practices in accordance with NBIC is also needed.
Business and Behavioural Skills
The position requires the ability to make sound engineering decisions under pressure, strong English communication skills, and regular use of office and technical software. Prior experience in a demanding operational setting will be valuable.
