Job description

Position overview

This role is for an Interdisciplinary Chemist/Materials Engineer within the MRO Engineering Department and Depot Support Team at FLTREADCEN EAST. The position focuses on technical support for depot-level repair activities and materials-related engineering work.

Key duties

  • Provide clear engineering guidance and technical decisions, both verbally and in writing, to depot process shops across areas such as inorganic coatings, welding, brazing, additive manufacturing, and protective coatings.
  • Create, compile, and release engineering directives and technical determinations connected to materials engineering and related repair processes for aircraft materials.
  • Arrange, participate in, and lead meetings and conferences with program stakeholders and other naval activities to address industrial support concerns.
  • Offer direction and specialist advice that supports the daily work and development of junior engineers, chemists, and technicians, especially those with less experience.
  • Assess process performance in service, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Contribute to engineering projects aimed at improving materials or qualifying them for use.

Compensation

The advertised salary range is 106437 to 138370.
