Job description

Overview

This opportunity is with a leading top-10 professional services firm in Dublin that is looking for a driven and technically capable Audit Senior Manager/Director. The role is suited to someone with strong audit exposure in the SME and owner-managed business space, particularly from a small to medium practice background who is ready for a step up in responsibility and impact.

What You Will Do

  • Lead a portfolio of SME and owner-managed business audits from initial planning through to final completion, shaping an approach that is practical and aligned to the needs of private, entrepreneurial clients.
  • Partner with business owners and directors to address accounting matters, offering clear, usable advice that helps inform day-to-day decisions and longer-term business plans.
  • Serve as the main contact for clients, developing strong relationships with founders and management teams and coordinating with outside parties such as banks and lenders where required.
  • Use your understanding of each client’s business to spot wider advisory needs and introduce internal specialists in areas such as tax planning, corporate finance, or succession planning.
  • Own the commercial and delivery side of engagements, including budgets, staff allocation, and timeline oversight to keep work efficient and profitable.
  • Support the growth of managers and senior audit staff through mentoring and coaching, helping them strengthen both technical capability and client-handling confidence.
  • Encourage the adoption of cloud-based accounting platforms and modern working methods to make audits more efficient and reduce interruption for client finance teams.

Experience and Skills

The firm is seeking someone with audit experience gained in a small or medium-sized practice environment, along with a strong commitment to excellent client service. The ideal candidate will bring solid technical knowledge, strong attention to detail, and the ability to communicate clearly and confidently in both verbal and written form. A proactive mindset and a collaborative, hands-on attitude are important. Around 5 or more years of post-qualification experience is preferred.
