Job description

Overview

BetterUp is hiring a Senior Business Recruiter for its People & Community team. The role focuses on senior hiring across G&A areas such as Finance, Legal, and People, with room to support other parts of the business as priorities change. You will act as a strategic advisor to leadership while running searches end to end, from individual contributor roles to executive-level hiring. The position calls for someone who can move comfortably between senior stakeholder conversations and hands-on sourcing work, and who can stay effective in complex, changing situations.

BetterUp describes its culture as mission-driven, inventive, and intense, with an emphasis on meaningful work and a highly engaged employee experience. The company also highlights that its candidate journey is designed to feel different from a typical hiring process.

Work arrangement

This is a hybrid position. Team members are expected to work from one of the company’s US office hubs at least two days each week, or eight days per month. The available hub locations are Austin, Texas; New York City, New York; San Francisco, California; and the Washington, DC metro area. Candidates should be able to commit to this setup before applying.

What you will do

  • Work with senior leaders to create and implement hiring plans that can support BetterUp’s growth.
  • Advise hiring managers and executives on workforce planning, role definition, and calibration discussions.
  • Run full-cycle recruiting for roles ranging from individual contributors to VP level and above, including confidential executive searches.
  • Develop strong candidate pipelines through thoughtful sourcing, broad networks, and market awareness.
  • Adapt smoothly to changing priorities and shifting stakeholder needs across functions.
  • Use recruiting data and insights to sharpen strategy, improve efficiency, and support decision-making.
  • Provide a candidate experience that is personal, respectful, and aligned with BetterUp’s mission.
  • Work with People Ops, HR business partners, and Total Rewards to support hiring and onboarding.
  • Help shape AI-enabled recruiting approaches that improve speed, pipeline quality, and candidate experience while keeping the process human-centered.
  • Build scalable workflows that use AI for sourcing, screening, interview preparation, and offer management.
  • Advise recruiting leadership on AI tools, capabilities, and responsible application in hiring.
  • Create practices that balance automation with a thoughtful and people-first recruiting approach.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of recruiting experience, including a minimum of 4 years in-house at a growth-stage or later-stage technology company.
  • Broad recruiting exposure across functions, with G&A plus GTM or Product experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to build trust quickly with people at all levels, from individual contributors to senior executives.
  • Strong commercial understanding and the ability to convert business needs into hiring strategy.
  • Comfort operating independently in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
  • Experience closing candidates through complex compensation discussions, including pre-IPO equity.
  • Hands-on experience with LinkedIn Recruiter, Ashby, and advanced sourcing methods.
  • Extra value if you have recruited for several functions at once, worked through later-stage startup scaling issues, or helped improve recruiting processes.
  • Candidates are encouraged to share examples of AI use in recruiting, such as sourcing, intake preparation, or process automation.

Benefits

  • Access to BetterUp coaching for you and for a friend or family member.
  • Competitive pay with room for growth.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Flexible paid time off.
  • All federal and statutory holidays observed.
  • 4 BetterUp Inner Work days per year.
  • 5 volunteer days each year.
  • Learning and development stipend.
  • Company-wide summer and winter breaks.
  • Annual charitable contribution made by BetterUp in the employee’s name.
  • 401(k) employee contribution plan.
