Job description

About Roku

Roku is the leading TV streaming platform in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, aiming to power televisions worldwide. We pioneered streaming to the TV and connect consumers with content, enable publishers to reach audiences, and offer advertisers unique engagement opportunities. Join our fast-growing public company and make a significant impact.

About the Content FP&A Team

The Content FP&A team is the financial backbone of The Roku Channel (TRC), our rapidly expanding ad-supported streaming service. We operate at the intersection of content, technology, and finance, collaborating with Engineering, Platform Operations, Content Strategy, and Content Acquisition to guide TRC's investments, operations, and growth. Our responsibilities include forecasting, budgeting, monthly close processes, business case development, and key performance indicator (KPI) reporting for TRC's content and infrastructure expenses.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to manage the financial model for TRC's cloud infrastructure costs (OVP COGS). This role involves being the primary FP&A contact for TRC's FAST and International businesses, and supporting the monthly close for various content cost lines. You will be a crucial finance partner for Platform Operations and Engineering, developing models, tracking performance, and providing analysis to inform infrastructure decisions impacting substantial annual spending. This position offers an exciting opportunity to leverage AI and automation to redefine FP&A workflows and focus on high-impact analytical work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the OVP cost model for TRC's cloud infrastructure, tracking monthly efficiency metrics and presenting insights to Engineering and Operations leadership.
  • Monitor vendor expenditures through dashboards, allocate costs across business units, and support contract negotiations by quantifying financial impacts.
  • Develop and maintain the TRC FAST streaming hours forecast, considering channel launches, seasonal demand, and content investment effects.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly variance analyses for OVP COGS and content costs, explaining drivers, implications, and recommended actions.
  • Execute all monthly close tasks, including cost allocations, accruals, and product segment reclassifications.
  • Act as the FP&A liaison for TRC's International business, supporting KPI reviews, P&L analysis, and forecasting.
  • Create business cases and ROI analyses for significant operational and infrastructure decisions, presenting to Director and VP-level stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Content Strategy, Content Acquisition, and Platform Operations to provide financial guidance for programming and infrastructure choices.
  • Identify and implement improvements in financial reporting speed, accuracy, and utility, utilizing AI and automation to streamline processes.

What We're Looking For

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), corporate finance, or a similar analytical field.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, with strong Excel skills for building and maintaining complex models.
  • Demonstrated experience with variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting within environments with regular closing cycles.
  • Excellent communication abilities, capable of translating intricate cost structures into actionable business insights for non-finance partners in Engineering and Operations.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity to deeply understand the underlying reasons for financial performance.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively while maintaining high accuracy.
  • A keen interest in the evolving landscape of AI and automation in finance, with a willingness to experiment with new tools.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
