Job description

About BlueScope

BlueScope is an Australian-founded global business operating across 15 countries. With a workforce of more than 16,500 people, the company focuses on safety, growth and wellbeing while turning steel into practical products and solutions that serve communities now and into the future. Its well-known brands include COLORBOND® steel, used in projects ranging from hospitals to bridges and stadiums.

Role Overview

The Performance, Reporting & Risk team is hiring a Senior Finance Analyst to work across Mascot and Port Kembla. This position sits within the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio and supports a large, complex manufacturing setting that serves both domestic and export customers.

Following a recent organisational restructure, the role will provide advanced financial reporting support, strategic analysis and leadership across accounting and reporting activities. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across Australian and New Zealand operations to improve performance, consistency and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of end-to-end financial reporting and performance analysis, including monthly, half-year and year-end close activities, with a focus on accuracy, timeliness and compliance.
  • Prepare financial reports, manage reconciliations, and contribute to budgeting and forecasting to strengthen financial control and transparency.
  • Improve reporting and accounting workflows by simplifying, standardising and enhancing processes, while helping build capability and consistency across the finance team.
  • Work with business leaders to provide practical insights that support decisions, interpret performance trends and challenge outcomes where needed.
  • Explain financial information in a way that is useful for both finance and non-finance stakeholders, turning data into actionable recommendations.
  • Support governance and technical accounting matters, including advice on complex accounting issues, strong control environments and compliance with reporting standards.

About You

You are curious, motivated and eager to keep learning, with a solid background in finance or accounting.

  • Degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business, with CA or CPA qualification.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is helpful but not mandatory.
  • Strong attention to detail and well-developed problem-solving ability.
  • Confident communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proactive mindset toward learning and continuous improvement.

Why Join BlueScope

  • Opportunities to learn, develop and build skills aligned to your role and career goals through a strong learning culture.
  • Exposure to innovative problem-solving and the chance to contribute to smarter, more sustainable solutions.
  • A workplace that values connection, care, safety and wellbeing, with an inclusive environment.
  • Work that contributes to customers and communities in meaningful ways.
  • Flexible working through the B-flex program.
  • An inclusive culture that welcomes people of all backgrounds, skills, experiences and perspectives.
  • Encouragement for women and First Nations people to apply.

Additional Information

BlueScope is committed to sustainability, including climate action and its 2050 net zero goal. The company’s purpose is to create and inspire smart steel solutions that strengthen communities for the future.
