About the Role
Ford Motor Company is looking for an experienced Senior Exterior/Interior Designer to join the Lincoln Design Studio in Dearborn, Michigan. This role sits within Ford Design, where the focus is on shaping the next generation of products, services, and experiences by placing people’s and society’s needs at the center of the design process.
The position supports both advanced and production programs. You will turn ideas into persuasive sketches, renderings, and 3D digital models to help deliver strong design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop imaginative, strategic, and well-reasoned design concepts for exterior or interior projects.
- Create future-facing brand design directions and visions.
- Work closely with cross-functional team members to deliver complete and coherent design outcomes.
- Move fluidly between digital and physical methods of design development.
- Solve design challenges tied to connectivity, mobility, and different consumer groups.
- Guide and support junior designers.
- Drive programs from early concept through final production.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, or a closely related equivalent.
- At least 5 years of experience in OEM automotive or transportation design, including final design execution and internships with transportation design firms.
- Strong ability to understand customer expectations and translate global trends into compelling design outcomes.
- Capability to work independently and use sound technical and aesthetic judgment while guiding others.
- Strong awareness of automotive and consumer electronics trends on a global scale.
- Proven ability in exterior/interior design with a portfolio in PDF format submitted with the application.
- Ability to work with Engineering, suppliers, and other partners to advance design work.
- Excellent design intuition, problem-solving ability, and visual communication skills through sketches and renderings.
- Comfort translating 2D ideas into 3D and shaping forms with a strong sense of proportion.
- Ongoing interest in design trends across disciplines and cultures such as automotive, fashion, and architecture.
- Strong teamwork, leadership, and communication skills, both written and verbal.

- Background in global exterior or interior design work.
- Good understanding of materials and manufacturing processes for exterior/interior design.
- Passion for automotive and mobility, innovation, customer needs, and global trends.

Additional Information
This role is assigned salary grade 7-8, with a base range of $86,600 to $166,200. Final pay will depend on the candidate’s skills, experience, job scope, responsibility level, and market value.
