Job description
Role Overview
Ford Motor Company is hiring a flexible, proactive HR professional for a blended role that combines HR generalist / junior HR business partner responsibilities with HR operations support. In this position, you will connect shared services with operational leaders, offering both people-focused guidance and strong process expertise.
The company is seeking a Southern California-based HR professional who is comfortable working through ambiguous questions, takes ownership, and collaborates well to solve broader process challenges. You will be a trusted point of contact for California-specific policy questions and will help employees and leaders receive prompt, accurate support.
Key Responsibilities
- Support performance management processes end to end, including advising leaders on coaching, documentation, and handling performance cases.
- Work alongside Employee Relations and managers to address questions and escalations while applying company policies consistently and fairly.
- Provide basic coaching to frontline leaders on employee morale, retention, and engagement topics.
- Assist HR business partner colleagues with workforce planning, annual people processes, and important stages of the employee lifecycle.
- Serve as a local resource for California HR rules, including leave of absence requirements, final pay, and wage and hour matters.
- Receive and prioritize sensitive HR inquiries such as payroll discrepancies, job or position changes, and benefits-related escalations that need detailed investigation.
- Spot recurring breakdowns in employee processes and work with People First and other subject matter experts such as Payroll, HR Technology, and Recruiting to build lasting solutions.
- Use Excel and HR systems such as Oracle and Visier to keep HCM data accurate and analyze trends that support HR decisions.
- Contribute to special projects such as organization design, bulk position changes, job architecture work, position management, and data cleanup or location alignment efforts.
- Support reporting needs that may become more complex depending on the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in HR, ideally in a generalist, HRBP, or shared services environment.
- Working knowledge of California labor law and HR compliance requirements.
- Advanced Excel capability, including v-lookups and pivot tables, plus experience with HR information systems such as Oracle, Workday, or SAP.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills across employee groups ranging from hourly staff to senior leaders.
- Ability to think critically, handle unclear situations, and move from issue identification to practical resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional HR certification such as PHR, CA-PHR, or SHRM-CP.
- Experience supporting technical client groups such as Software Engineering, Design, or Manufacturing.
- Background in HR Shared Services.
- Ability to present insights clearly through data visualization and storytelling.
Benefits and Perks
- Medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage available immediately.
- Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, and new parent ramp-up programs.
- Subsidized backup child care and related family support options.
- Adoption and surrogacy reimbursement, along with fertility treatment support.
- Employee and family vehicle discount program, plus management lease options.
- Tuition assistance.
- Active employee resource groups.
- Paid time off for individual and team community service.
- Paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
- Paid time off plus the option to buy additional vacation days.
