Job description
Role overview
The Advanced EV Development Global Supply Chain Manager will shape and strengthen the supply chain strategy for Ford’s powertrain programs. This role focuses on creating and executing global sourcing plans for critical powertrain spend, building robust costing models, and driving end-to-end commercial and supply chain strategy.
You will also work on reducing supply chain risk and designing sourcing approaches that support compliance with global trade and tariff rules.
Key responsibilities
- Create first-principles should-cost models with engineering, using physics-based ground-up analysis to estimate minimum system or part cost.
- Support enterprise optimization efforts by providing code-based should-cost tools that can be embedded into the optimization plan.
- Use the should-cost models as design inputs to help improve commercial outcomes versus competitors.
- Develop prototype sourcing approaches that preserve leverage through design lock and program launch timing.
- Lead make-versus-buy analyses with advanced manufacturing teams to identify the best outcome.
- Work closely with program schedules to build commercial agreements that meet Ford’s cost and timing targets.
- Partner with ADVEV GSM teams to improve purchasing software and tools used to manage suppliers, revisions, requirements, documentation, and agreements.
- Own the RFI and RFQ process and ensure NDAs, terms and conditions, and related agreements are completed on time and satisfy program needs.
- Build strategic partnerships across the supply chain to support cost leadership, resilience during raw material shortages, and mitigation of geopolitical risk.
- Promote a collaborative costing mindset with internal engineering teams and external supplier partners so that cost objectives are shared and delivered together.
- Bring deep knowledge of leading vendors, competitive traction motor designs, and supply chains while tracking global market trends and technology roadmaps.
- Be ready to broaden your expertise into new powertrain commodities as business needs evolve.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or Operations Management, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in supply chain management or commodity management.
- Proven ability to negotiate creatively and build non-traditional strategies.
- Knowledge of high-volume motor manufacturing processes, materials, and supply chains.
- Strong supplier relationship management skills, including scorecards, issue resolution, and business reviews.
- Preferred: Master’s degree.
- Preferred: Hands-on experience creating and launching effective supply chain methodology.
- Preferred: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred: Comfort working cross-functionally in a fast-moving environment as part of a high-performing team.
- Preferred: A systems-oriented approach to design and development, with curiosity and a drive for strong execution and continuous improvement.
