About the Role
Join a fast-moving technology team in Qatar as a Senior Backend Engineer focused on the core business platform. In this role, you will help shape reliable, scalable backend systems that support a super app environment spanning delivery, ride-hailing, and shopping.
What You Will Do
- Develop backend services on .NET Core 8 and make sure they connect cleanly with the rest of the platform.
- Improve database efficiency by tuning queries and designing effective data models across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB.
- Take part in architecture and system-design conversations to strengthen scalability and long-term maintainability.
- Review code from other engineers and share practical feedback that helps raise overall code quality.
- Refactor existing components to simplify the codebase, improve readability, and boost performance.
- Create and maintain unit and integration tests to support strong coverage for backend systems.
- Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex issues in both live and development environments.
- Record technical choices, system behavior, and internal processes so knowledge is easy to share across the team.
- Support production releases and help verify that new deployments are stable and working as intended.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong backend engineering background with extensive experience in .NET Core.
- Solid command of RESTful API and gRPC service design with an emphasis on scalability and maintainability.
- Hands-on expertise with PostgreSQL as well as MongoDB and DynamoDB.
- Working knowledge of RabbitMQ and asynchronous, distributed service patterns.
- Deep familiarity with common design patterns such as Singleton, Factory, and Strategy.
- Proven ability to refactor older codebases without breaking functionality.
- Experience with unit, integration, and performance testing for backend applications.
Nice to Have
- Ability to identify and solve difficult performance problems, including memory leaks, using profiling and optimization tools.
- Experience leading large initiatives while balancing technical and business needs.
- Background in mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development.
- Exposure to load testing and performance tuning.
- Comfort contributing ideas in technical discussions and proposing creative solutions.
- Experience using diagramming tools such as Miro.
