Role Overview

The Senior Backend Engineer will help create and improve backend systems for the Foods product area. This role focuses on building scalable services, improving reliability and performance, and working closely with other teams to support product growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop backend services on .NET Core 8 and make sure they work seamlessly with the rest of the platform.
• Improve database efficiency by tuning queries and designing effective data structures across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB.
• Take part in architecture and system design conversations to strengthen scalability and long-term maintainability.
• Review code contributions and share practical feedback that helps maintain coding quality and team performance.
• Refactor existing codebases to make them cleaner, more efficient, and easier to understand.
• Create unit and integration tests and work toward strong test coverage for backend components.
• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve difficult issues in both live and development environments.
• Record technical choices, system behavior, and process details so knowledge is preserved across the team.
• Support production releases and verify that systems operate correctly after deployment.

Required Skills and Experience

• At least 7 years of backend development experience, including 5+ years working with .NET Core.
• Strong experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs and gRPC services with scalability and maintainability in mind.
• Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL plus non-relational databases such as MongoDB and DynamoDB.
• Exposure to message brokers like RabbitMQ and familiarity with asynchronous workflows and distributed systems.
• Good command of software design patterns such as Singleton, Factory, and Strategy.
• Hands-on experience improving legacy code through refactoring while keeping behavior intact.
• Experience with unit, integration, and performance testing to support reliable software delivery.

Nice to Have

• Ability to investigate and fix advanced performance problems, including memory leaks, using profiling and optimization tools.
• Experience leading larger initiatives while balancing technical goals and business needs.
• Background in mentoring junior engineers and helping grow team capability.
• Familiarity with load testing and application performance tuning.
• Comfort contributing ideas in technical discussions and proposing practical solutions.
• Experience using diagramming or collaboration tools such as Miro.
