Role Overview
The Senior Associate will lead and support the sourcing, assessment, negotiation, and acquisition of institutional-grade neighborhood retail and mixed-use properties across multiple U.S. markets. This position also involves financial structuring, underwriting, due diligence, and closing coordination for prospective investments. The role is based in the Los Angeles regional office and works closely with the West Coast Execution Team in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Generate acquisition opportunities by developing and maintaining relationships with brokers, sellers, developers, and potential joint venture partners.
- Handle negotiations for purchase and sale agreements and coordinate transaction-related legal work with outside counsel.
- Deliver analytics, market research, and financial modeling support to sharpen underwriting assumptions and business plans for acquisitions and dispositions across the U.S.
- Partner with execution teams and junior acquisition staff by offering deal-specific underwriting input and guidance.
- Manage the due diligence process and oversee transaction closings from start to finish.
- Prepare and present investment committee memorandums for proposed transactions.
- Track and evaluate macroeconomic, demographic, and submarket-level trends in target locations.
Requirements
- At least 5 to 7+ years of experience in real estate investments, asset management, or capital markets.
- Demonstrated success in real estate acquisitions, negotiations, and transaction structuring.
- Strong familiarity with real estate acquisitions and principal ownership.
- Proven ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and support the growth of junior colleagues.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a history of building effective professional relationships.
- High-level financial analysis skills and the ability to present complex ideas clearly to senior leadership; advanced Excel modeling is required.
- Self-driven work style, strong judgment, and a consistent work ethic.
