Key responsibilities
- Investigate incidents to determine the underlying cause and lead the effort to fix them.
- Oversee daily security operations and provide guidance where needed.
- Handle difficult issues within the assigned security domain and work them through to closure.
- Resolve Level 3 incidents and service requests.
- Develop internal working standards and procedures when required for the support function.
- Work closely with technical teams and other stakeholders to coordinate resolution efforts.
- Prepare and maintain reports related to security incidents.
- Share device and operational performance metrics as needed.
- Respond to security incidents and complete post-incident reviews and analysis.
- Use incident response tools and solutions for detection, investigation, and response activities, while guiding team members on security event analysis.
- Communicate clearly in both spoken and written form, and explain technical as well as strategic cybersecurity topics to different audiences.
Skills and qualifications
The ideal candidate should have at least 4 years of experience in security monitoring and response. Hands-on experience with Micro Focus ArcSight SIEM is expected, along with exposure to multiple SIEM implementations. The role also calls for strong detection and exploit analysis skills, the ability to review logs for relevant patterns, data manipulation and presentation ability, and solid incident/problem management capability. A strong understanding of security frameworks, incident response phases, and SOC procedures is important. Relevant certifications such as GIAC GCIH, GPEN, or equivalent are preferred.
