Role Overview
This position is responsible for acquiring and engaging single-outlet independent restaurants within a given city. The Sales Manager acts as the main contact for these restaurant partners, taking time to understand their business model, challenges, and growth opportunities. The role is highly consultative and field-based, requiring strong adaptability, ownership, and a genuine interest in helping partners succeed. It also offers exposure to restaurant operations and foundational experience for long-term sales growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a defined territory and develop effective, long-term relationships with restaurant partners in that area.
- Spend significant time in the field by visiting restaurants, demonstrating products, reviewing ROI, and explaining how Swiggy can create value for both sides.
- Use a consultative sales approach by asking about current sales channels, delivery operations, marketing spend, and business goals, then presenting Swiggy solutions accordingly.
- Handle the full monthly partner journey, including pitching, negotiation, activation, and continued support.
- Monitor adoption and performance data, identify obstacles to growth, and take corrective action where needed.
- Take ownership of territory targets, while keeping a close watch on pipeline activity and conversion performance.
- Work extensively with city and central trackers and use advanced Excel, Google Sheets, and WSP for daily reporting and analysis.
- Keep track of restaurant trends, competitor activity, and local market changes, and share field insights that can influence product decisions.
- Conduct 80 to 90 in-person meetings with restaurant partners every month.
Requirements
- 0 to 2 years of experience in B2B sales, field sales, or business development, ideally in FMCG, food and beverage, or the hospitality sector.
- Proven ability to meet or exceed targets and manage an independent sales pipeline.
- Strong accountability for portfolio growth in a business that operates around the clock.
- Comfort working with data and spreadsheets, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and dashboard creation.
- Postgraduate education, preferably with a focus on marketing or sales.
