Overview

This role is with The AA in Bristol and is focused on helping members get back on the road safely when vehicle trouble strikes. You’ll be the reassuring first point of contact for drivers and a key part of a team that supports motorists in all kinds of conditions.

Pay and working pattern

The role offers guaranteed first-year earnings of £39,270 including allowances, with top performers able to reach an OTE of up to £60,000. The job is based around an average 40-hour week, and you can choose from different shift patterns so the schedule better fits your personal and working life. Rest days and shift lengths will vary depending on the pattern selected.

You will start and end your shifts from home, and you are paid from the moment you get into your van until the moment you return home.

What the role involves

  • Supporting stranded drivers by responding to breakdowns and helping them continue their journey safely.
  • Working alone across different locations and weather conditions while staying connected to a supportive team.
  • Using mechanical knowledge and strong communication skills to deliver a positive customer experience.
  • Diagnosing issues on site and using a calm, practical approach to resolve a wide range of roadside problems.

What you’ll need

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or an equivalent qualification backed by relevant experience.
  • A full category B driving licence with 6 points or fewer.
  • Comfort with new technology and a willingness to learn and adapt to the tools provided.
  • Availability for shift work, including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
