Opportunity overview
Boots UK is hiring a Relief Dispenser to support pharmacy operations across multiple stores within a defined local area. In this role, you will be an important part of the pharmacy and healthcare team, working alongside pharmacists and other colleagues to help deliver safe, efficient service to patients.
You will spend much of your time in the healthcare area of the store, developing strong relationships with patients by understanding their needs and offering helpful guidance. The role includes welcoming customers, dispensing prescriptions, making sure medicines are supplied safely, and using your healthcare knowledge to support people in making informed choices about their health and wellbeing.
This position is based in the UK. Applicants who are outside the UK will not be moved forward unless they can prove relevant UK qualifications and the right to work. Remote applicants will not be considered.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense prescriptions safely, including tasks such as ordering medicines, labelling, endorsing, and collecting prescriptions.
- Work closely with pharmacists and other healthcare colleagues to support the delivery and management of pharmacy services.
- Offer patients guidance on medicines and escalate questions to the Pharmacist when needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed legally and safely.
- Stay current with store innovations and follow operational procedures accurately.
- Help patients manage repeat prescriptions efficiently, improve adherence, and reduce medicine waste.
- Communicate effectively with store teams to maintain continuity of care.
- Work with new in-store systems and technologies that improve patient safety and make dispensing processes more efficient.
Training and career development
You will receive regular updates and training to build your healthcare knowledge. Boots also offers career progression routes, including the chance to train as a Pharmacy Technician or move into a store leadership role.
Requirements
- Completion of the Pharmacy Advisor qualification NVQ2, or an equivalent qualification.
- Ability to travel across the defined area with complete flexibility.
- Current UK right to work; sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Visa is not available for this position.
- Experience in community pharmacy is preferred.

The hourly pay for this role is £13.92, rising to as much as £16.64 in selected London locations.
