Job description
About the role
This opportunity places you in a store-based pharmacy team where you will help the pharmacist and wider healthcare colleagues deliver safe, efficient pharmacy and healthcare support. The role is centered on patient care, accurate dispensing, and helping people make informed choices about their health and medicines.
You will work in the healthcare area of the store, building trusted relationships with patients through attentive service, practical guidance, and a focus on safe medicine use. Day to day, you may greet customers, dispense prescriptions, support the lawful sale of medicines, and offer healthcare advice using your knowledge and judgement.
This position is based in a UK store only. Remote working is not available. Applications from outside the UK will only be progressed if the candidate can provide relevant UK qualifications and confirmed evidence of the right to work in the UK.
Key responsibilities
- Handle prescription dispensing and ensure medicines are supplied safely, including tasks such as ordering, labelling, endorsing, and issuing prescriptions.
- Collaborate with healthcare colleagues in store to help deliver pharmacy services effectively.
- Offer guidance to patients on medicines and escalate questions to the pharmacist when needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed safely and legally.
- Stay current with in-store innovations and follow operational processes correctly.
- Help patients manage repeat prescriptions, improve adherence, and reduce medicine waste.
Training and development
You will work with evolving in-store technologies and new systems designed to improve dispensing processes, strengthen patient safety, and allow more time to spend with patients. Regular updates and training will be provided to build your healthcare knowledge, and development pathways are available, including progression toward Pharmacy Technician training or opportunities within store leadership.
Requirements
- You must have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification NVQ2, or an equivalent qualification, or be currently working toward it and have completed the first year of an MPharm degree.
- A current and valid UK right to work is required.
- This role is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.
- Experience in community pharmacy is desirable.
Benefits
- Discretionary Christmas gift payment.
- Generous colleague discount.
- Improved maternity, paternity, and adoption leave pay, plus a gift card for those expecting or adopting a child.
- Flexible benefits package.
- Access to free, 24/7 counselling and support through an employee assistance programme.
