Job description
Role overview
As a Relief Dispenser, you’ll move between stores within a set local area and play an important part in the pharmacy team. You’ll work alongside pharmacists and other healthcare colleagues to help deliver pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently.
In the healthcare area of the store, you’ll spend time building positive relationships with patients, taking the time to understand what they need. Your day-to-day work will include welcoming customers, dispensing prescriptions, supporting the safe sale of medicines, and offering guidance based on your healthcare knowledge so patients can make informed choices about their health and wellbeing.
This position is based in the UK only. Candidates applying from outside the UK will not be progressed unless they can demonstrate the relevant UK qualifications and valid right to work. Remote applicants will not be considered.
Pay
The hourly pay for this role is £13.92, rising to as much as £16.64 in selected London locations.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense prescriptions while ensuring medicines are supplied safely, including ordering stock, labelling, dispensing, endorsing, and collecting prescriptions.
- Collaborate with healthcare colleagues in the store to support the delivery and management of pharmacy services.
- Offer patients advice about medicines and direct complex queries to the pharmacist when needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures to help ensure prescriptions are dispensed safely and legally.
- Stay current with in-store changes and follow operational processes.
- Help patients manage repeat prescriptions efficiently to support adherence and reduce medicine waste.
- Maintain clear communication with store teams to support continuity of care.
You’ll also have the chance to work with changing in-store technologies and new systems that improve dispensing processes, enhance patient safety, and free up more time for patient care. Regular updates and training will be provided to build your healthcare knowledge, along with career development routes such as training to become a Pharmacy Technician or moving into store leadership.
Requirements
- Pharmacy Advisor qualification at NVQ2 level, or an equivalent qualification, must be completed.
- Full flexibility to travel across the defined geographic area is required.
- Applicants must have current, valid UK right to work.
- This position is not eligible for Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship.
Preferred experience
- Previous experience in a community pharmacy setting would be an advantage.
