Role overview
This full-time position is centered on expanding sales and distribution for the company’s portfolio in the Denver market. The role emphasizes distributor leadership, market growth, retail execution, chain and key account management, and coordinated marketing activity.
Core responsibilities
- Own the growth of sales and distribution for the assigned portfolio in the market.
- Create distributor programs that target current and prospective accounts to improve distribution, shelf presence, and in-store merchandising efforts.
- Strengthen distributor engagement by attending and leading meetings, keeping leadership updated on company initiatives, and building programs that maintain focus on the brands.
- Monitor progress against key priorities and measure the effectiveness of initiatives.
- Train and motivate distributor sales representatives and managers on product knowledge, selling approaches, brand messaging, and promotions so they represent the company effectively in the trade.
- Manage distributor inventory levels in coordination with customer orders and purchasing teams.
- Develop productive commercial relationships that generate measurable business outcomes.
- Work with the Sales Director on the distributor annual business plan and the broader market sales strategy.
- Lead, coach, develop, and hold accountable the field sales team in the market.
- Organize market blitzes across assigned and adjacent locations.
- Handle account planning and execution for chain and key accounts.
- Design and run promotions with customers, festivals, and events.
- Use distributor reports and data tools to find opportunities for new placements, expansion, lost sales recovery, and volume growth.
- Log sales activity and weekly results, and provide supporting documentation for sales and bonus objectives.
- Work toward the sales targets set with the Regional Sales Director.
- Maintain regular communication with field sales representatives, the Regional Sales Director, Marketing, Key Accounts, and Sales leadership as needed.
- Ensure distributors and retailers understand and follow the company’s quality standards.
- Stay current on legal restrictions affecting the products in each market and make sure all activity stays compliant.
- Keep a flexible schedule, including weekends and longer workdays when required.
- Present a professional image, maintain an organized vehicle, and represent the company positively.
- Carry out other related duties as assigned.
Required qualifications and capabilities
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience is required; prior beer distributor or supplier experience is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the beverage alcohol industry, ideally in beer.
- Previous experience managing direct reports in a sales setting.
- Working knowledge of the three-tier system and the balance between wholesaler management and retail execution.
- Understanding of distributor inventory management.
- Ability to interpret data and business insights using VIP iDig, Karma, Nielsen Scan Data, and Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
- Strong self-drive, attention to detail, and the ability to complete work independently on time.
- Good time management and the ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively.
- Clear verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to build lasting, value-added relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong planning and organizational skills for weekly and monthly execution.
- Growth-oriented mindset and willingness to learn new skills.
- Ability to plan and manage wholesaler objectives and initiatives.
- Physical and mental stamina to work in demanding environments and handle operational and administrative stress.
- Ability to frequently lift and move 10–25 pounds.
