Job description

About the Role

This part-time, onsite position involves supporting the IMS system, procurement, storage, and transport of equipment and resources within the operating theatre environment at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. The role requires working both independently and as an integral part of the theatres and ITAPS Resources, Equipment, Decontamination and Sterilization team, adhering strictly to departmental and Trust policies and procedures. Applicants must be fully available to work the stipulated shift pattern.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collecting and delivering used and clean items to and from various departments across any Trust site.
  • Managing the storage and distribution of items in storerooms, ensuring cleanliness, stock rotation, and updating the IMS system.
  • Verifying the sterility of instrument trays, checking date/batch numbers against departmental standards, and reporting any discrepancies.
  • Adhering to departmental Quality Policies and Procedures.
  • Prioritizing urgent cases and communicating estimated timelines to the relevant theatre.
  • Immediately reporting any issues or problems to Team Leaders or Departmental Managers.
  • Performing daily cleaning of trolleys, both internally and externally.
  • Maintaining neatness and tidiness in work areas and upholding good work practices.
  • Assisting drivers with the preparation and transportation of trolleys to and from vehicles parked outside the main building.
  • Ensuring all sterilized items are returned to their designated spaces in the appropriate Theatre/Department store areas.
