About the Role
Join Hynds Pipe Systems Limited at our Pokeno manufacturing facility as a Quality Technician responsible for ensuring the superior quality of precast concrete and concrete pipe products. Maintaining our S-Mark certification, you will safeguard our reputation and help build reliable infrastructure for communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine product tests including load and water-tightness (hydrostatic) evaluations on concrete pipes according to both national and international standards.
- Perform quality assurance checks before and after pouring precast concrete, inspecting mould dimensions, reinforcement, surface finish, and product markings.
- Execute dimensional inspections on pipes and reinforcement cages, carrying out repairs to concrete items when necessary.
- Manage Non-Conformance Reports by raising and resolving them for any products not meeting standards.
- Support concrete trial processes, sample preparation, and characterization of raw materials such as sand, aggregates, and additives.
- Maintain cleanliness, calibration, and audit readiness of laboratory and testing equipment.
- Compile and communicate QA data on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis while alerting to any deviations from tolerances.
- Provide backup cover across various roles including Batcher, Gatekeeper, Precast, Pipe Technician, and Lab as needed.
- Contribute to a safe, clean, and efficient workplace by upholding stringent health, safety, and environmental protocols.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of one year experience in civil engineering or manufacturing laboratory testing focused on concrete samples and products.
- Completion of tertiary education in QA, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong background in laboratory procedures and standardized testing methods.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly with MS Excel.
- Exceptional attention to detail with accurate test result reporting.
- Effective communication abilities and a cooperative, team-oriented attitude.
- Commitment to safety and capability to lift weights up to 20kg safely.
- Initiative-driven with a focus on problem-solving and continuous process improvement.
