Role overview

This opportunity is with a medical device manufacturing business in Longford, Ireland, operating in the medical device and injection moulding sector. The position sits at the centre of customer care, supplier coordination, production support, and logistics, helping the business maintain service standards, stock availability, and cost control.

The role combines daily purchasing work with customer order administration, and also includes responsibility for freight paperwork related to air and sea shipments.

Customer service duties

  • Handle order confirmations, dispatch documentation, credit notes, invoices, and shipping paperwork.
  • Deal with issues involving damaged or substandard goods, product returns, and invoice mismatches.
  • Keep communication flowing smoothly between internal teams.

Purchasing and procurement duties

  • Identify and source materials, goods, and services according to business needs.
  • Create and monitor purchase orders, and manage everyday buying activity for assigned suppliers and commodities.
  • Assist with supplier discussions and initiatives aimed at reducing costs.
  • Monitor inventory against targets and speed up critical materials to avoid disruptions to production.
  • Communicate with suppliers about forecasts and changes in demand.
  • Keep ERP records accurate, including lead times, pricing, minimum order quantities, and supplier information.
  • Maintain bill of materials accuracy for assigned products.
  • Manage and negotiate purchases for non-stock items.
  • Support audits and supplier compliance paperwork.
  • Monitor purchasing KPIs.
  • Prepare and manage freight documentation for air and ocean import/export shipments, including SAD paperwork.
