About the Organization
Player 15 Group is the sports and entertainment organization behind the Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury, Valley Suns, and Mortgage Matchup Center. Based in downtown Phoenix, the company is rooted in passion, creativity, innovation, and care. Its teams focus on building memorable experiences for fans, partners, and the surrounding community.
The work environment is fast-moving and collaborative, with each team member playing a part in the success of the organization, the fan experience, and its broader community impact.
Role Overview
The organization is looking for an accomplished and driven Program Director on a contractor basis to support planning, execution, and delivery of 2027 NBA All-Star initiatives. This position will coordinate key cross-functional programs tied to the event’s strategic goals and organizing principles.
The role will work closely with colleagues across all levels, including senior leaders, as well as outside partners, citywide stakeholders, and the NBA and its representatives. The goal is to keep everyone aligned, accountable, and focused on measurable outcomes across planning, execution, and post-event stages.
The Program Director will also manage several projects at once, monitoring risks and dependencies while making sure work stays on schedule, within scope, and inside budget.
Key Duties
- Set the program vision, goals, scope, and success measures in line with the NBA All-Star organizing principles.
- Create and maintain detailed program plans, schedules, budgets, and resource assignments.
- Lead multiple committees and working groups, ensuring internal and external workstreams remain connected and coordinated.
- Monitor program progress and operating efficiency, making updates and improvements as planning and delivery evolve.
- Prepare regular communication materials for different audiences, including status reports, summaries, team meetings, and executive updates.
- Act as a central contact for key stakeholders, encouraging collaboration and accountability in a constructive, solution-focused setting.
- Spot urgent or high-risk issues early, respond with practical solutions, and escalate concerns when needed.
- Perform other assigned responsibilities as needed.
Required Background and Strengths
Success in this role calls for a collaborative leader who can guide cross-functional teams toward shared goals. Strong organization, analysis, and proactive problem-solving are important, along with the ability to communicate clearly in writing and speaking.
The position also requires the ability to turn complex plans into concise executive-level updates, build strong relationships, influence people at many levels inside and outside the organization, and apply sound budgeting, financial, and operational judgment.
Experience and Education
A bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or a related area is preferred, though equivalent experience may be considered. Candidates should bring at least 5 years of experience in program or project management and have used project management platforms such as Smartsheet or Monday.com.
Work Environment
The team values a people-first, in-person work culture where employees are supported, empowered, and connected. The organization looks for individuals who take ownership, show initiative, and bring a proactive “I’ll do it” mindset.
The workplace also emphasizes career growth and a positive everyday employee experience.
Benefits and Perks
Benefits and perks may vary depending on employment status and eligibility. Available offerings can include medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage; paid vacation, sick time, volunteer time, and company holidays; and a 401(k) plan with company match.
Additional perks may include team offsites, catered lunches, coffee stands, ice cream trucks, seasonal team swag, employee discounts at the Team Shop and online store, and complimentary tickets to Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury, and Valley Suns games, plus select local sporting events and concerts when available.
On-site amenities may include a full fitness center with locker rooms and showers, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, a pickleball court, a golf simulator and putting green, and an on-site cafeteria with collaborative gathering spaces.
