Job description
Role overview
This role is responsible for guiding the product strategy and helping turn the company vision into practical execution. You will work closely with the Head of Product and other Product Directors to support the rollout of agreed strategies across Vista Group.
The position is customer-facing, so customer feedback and market insight will play a major part in shaping product direction. Building strong relationships with customers is an important part of the job.
What you will do
- Set direction for the development squads assigned to your area of ownership.
- Represent the wider company vision and help carry it through in day-to-day product work.
- Work with the product team to define and track OKRs.
- Continuously study the market to identify strategic opportunities.
- Partner with the product team to assess possible product innovations.
- Champion the strategy, roadmap, and long-term vision for your products.
- Make decisions using a strong understanding of the business, engineering constraints, customer needs, market trends, and product data.
- Keep a close eye on how products are used by reviewing usage data regularly.
- Work with Marketing on product marketing activity and with UX on research initiatives.
- Show persistence in understanding business and technical issues so development teams can deliver effectively.
- Help ensure new features and products are market-ready and deliver measurable value and adoption.
- Support Relationship Managers by handling customer requests, building strong relationships, and making realistic commitments that are tracked through delivery.
- Make sure product outcomes are complete, well-informed, and supported by a clear go-to-market approach.
- Act as a subject matter expert to support sales on your product portfolio.

Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience in the software industry.
- Background in software design principles and familiarity with Vista standards.
- Broad understanding of Vista products, along with detailed knowledge of several of them.
- A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership beyond your immediate area of expertise.
- Ability to build interest and bring people along on a shared direction.
- Capacity to create alignment through a positive, collaborative approach.
- Strong overall technical and interpersonal capability.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with people across all levels, both internally and externally.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Willingness to travel overseas when required.
- Only candidates with an existing right to live and work in New Zealand will be considered for this role.
