Job description
Role overview
In this Group Product Manager role within Orange Apron Media (AdTech), you will focus on two core priorities: building and coaching a high-performing team of Product Managers, and shaping the strategic direction for a connected portfolio of products. Your team consists of 3 Senior Product Managers, and a key part of the job is helping them develop into strong product leaders while ensuring their roadmaps support the broader OAM strategy and OKRs.
Strategy and planning
- Review product teams and feature sets holistically to keep dependencies and alignment on track.
- Build a strong understanding of customer and associate needs, both current and future, and use that insight to help create enterprise products that improve the experience for Home Depot customers and associates.
- Convert business objectives and end-user needs into a clear product strategy, then communicate priorities and direction to product teams and business stakeholders.
- Meet with users and stakeholders as needed to learn about workflows, pain points, and inefficiencies so improvements can be targeted effectively.
- Create epics that advance product vision, new features, and backend improvements, while adapting plans for evolving business models.
- Assess the business value of proposed product enhancements.
- Define goals, metrics, and analytics to track product performance and continuously refine products based on what is learned.
Delivery and execution
- Evaluate proposed solutions and the work produced by the product team to confirm alignment with company, stakeholder, and user priorities.
- Ensure quality and change-control standards are properly documented, reviewed, and followed.
- Clear blockers and obstacles that could slow delivery and prevent strategic, financial, or technical targets from being met.
- Receive, review, and prioritize incoming requests from partners and stakeholders while balancing business strategy, product direction, and user needs.
- Keep leadership informed with regular progress updates across the product portfolio.
People leadership
- Lead, coach, and mentor Product Managers to strengthen their impact and capability.
- Hire, retain, and develop strong talent to build a world-class product management organization.
- Conduct annual and mid-year performance reviews, discuss development plans, and provide ongoing feedback.
- Encourage collaboration across Engineering, UX, and other partners to deliver value and resolve obstacles.
- Promote modern software development practices and serve as an advocate for the end user and other stakeholders.
- Help the team stay aligned on progress, share learnings, and define next steps.
- Manage expectations across cross-functional teams and stakeholders, and help requestors understand prioritization based on business value and user impact.
- Support junior team members in strategy, alignment, analysis, and execution work.
- Participate in learning activities and communities focused on modern software design and development best practices.
Reporting and work environment
This position typically reports to a Product Management Senior Manager, Technology Director, or Senior Director. It generally involves overnight travel of 5% to 20% of the time. The role is mostly sedentary, with frequent opportunities to move around and only rare need to lift or move light items. Work is performed in a comfortable indoor setting with minimal unpleasant conditions.
Minimum qualifications
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred qualifications and experience
- 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience as a Product Manager in a modern software development enterprise environment with responsibility for multiple products.
- Strong knowledge of modern product management practices and agile methods, including paired programming, test-driven development, and continuous deployment.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where priorities change frequently.
- Ability to communicate with and influence technical and functional partners at all levels.
- Experience working on collaborative, cross-functional software design and development teams.
- Experience creating, prioritizing, and accepting epics and user stories.
- Background in user research and testing to understand user needs.
- Ability to define goals, metrics, and analytics that show product value.
