Role overview
WSP is looking for an experienced Principal Landscape Planner to join its established Landscape Architecture team in New Zealand. This role offers the chance to contribute to significant, multidisciplinary projects and help deliver work that shapes communities and supports a future-focused approach to design and planning.

Key responsibilities
- Prepare and manage consent submissions.
- Carry out landscape and visual assessments.
- Lead and review design work across parks, streetscapes, public spaces and recreational facilities.
- Support fee estimation and related negotiation work.
- Take ownership of project management and project leadership tasks.
- Help grow landscape planning services through business development aligned to national strategies.
- Build and maintain strong client and account relationships.
- Use networking and business development activity to expand the landscape portfolio.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant brings a strong background in landscape architecture and planning, along with the confidence to work across client-facing and project leadership responsibilities. The role can be based in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch, and the company is seeking someone who can contribute to the success of multidisciplinary work and help strengthen ongoing client partnerships.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a closely related discipline.
- NZILA registration.
- At least 10 years of experience in landscape architecture and planning.
- Proven experience in landscape and visual effects assessments.
- A current, clean driver’s licence.
