Role overview
WSP is looking for a Principal Landscape Planner to join its established Landscape Architecture team. This role offers the chance to contribute to significant multidisciplinary projects and to work from one of the company’s main New Zealand centres, including Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch.
The organisation operates globally across engineering, advisory, and science disciplines, with a focus on creating positive outcomes for communities and future-ready solutions. The role suits someone who enjoys combining technical landscape planning expertise with client engagement, project leadership, and business growth.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and support consent submissions.
- Carry out landscape and visual impact assessments.
- Lead or coordinate design activity for parks, streetscapes, public areas, and recreational facilities.
- Assist with fee estimating and fee negotiation.
- Take on project management and project leadership responsibilities.
- Help develop landscape planning work that supports national strategies.
- Strengthen relationships with existing clients through account management.
- Contribute to business development and networking to expand the landscape portfolio.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant brings substantial experience in landscape architecture and planning, along with the confidence to manage client relationships and support business development. You should be comfortable working across multidisciplinary projects and contributing to both technical delivery and team growth.
