The position is 37.00 hours per week, spread across 5 days from Monday to Saturday, with shifts running from 07:34 to 15:30. There is also a Sunday duty at Horsham Delivery Office (RH12 1EA), from 08:00 to 16:00. Because of operational needs, weekend work on both Saturday and Sunday will be required according to a local rota or plan.
About the role
Royal Mail describes this as an important community-facing role that helps keep everyday life moving, from post and important documents to parcels and special deliveries. The work is physical and active, and it suits someone who enjoys being outdoors, staying on the move, and supporting people in their local area.
What the job involves
You will be out delivering to homes and businesses, representing the organisation as a friendly and trusted presence in the community. The role involves a lot of walking, working in all weather conditions, and providing reliable service day after day. A full UK manual driving licence is required, with no more than 6 penalty points.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate is positive, independent, self-driven, organised, punctual, and comfortable delivering excellent customer service. You should enjoy working with people, take pride in your work, and feel at ease being active outdoors for long periods.
Pay and benefits
This role offers a guaranteed hourly rate of £13.68, paid monthly and adjusted to the hours you work. Benefits include 22.5 days of holiday, increasing with service; a company pension with competitive contributions; full uniform; career development opportunities such as trainee manager positions and apprentice schemes; enhanced family-friendly leave provisions; wellbeing support for you and your family; retail, travel, attraction, beauty, and gym discounts; and free stamps at Christmas.
Additional information
For candidate search purposes, roles of 35 to 37 hours per week are shown as full-time. However, in the employment contract, any role under 37 hours per week is treated as part-time.
Application and inclusion
If selected, the first stage of the process will be an interview. Applicants are asked to keep contact details current when applying. The employer welcomes applications from all individuals and encourages candidates from the Armed Forces community, including cadet instructors and spouses or partners. If any adjustments are needed during recruitment, these can be discussed with the recruiter once contacted.
