About the Role
Royal Mail is seeking a Postperson (Postal Delivery Driver) to join their team in Wickford, England. This permanent, full-time, onsite position offers the opportunity to stay active, connect with the community, and enjoy excellent benefits. As a Postie, you will be the trusted face of Royal Mail, responsible for delivering letters and parcels within the local area. You will work a rotating shift schedule, which includes weekends, with specific hours and routes determined by your rota and operational demand. This role is physically demanding and requires working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Sort mail and packages at the designated delivery office.
- Transport and deliver mail, both by van and on foot, within your assigned local routes.
- Engage with customers and build positive relationships.
- Perform duties outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
Requirements
- Possession of a full, manual UK driving licence with a maximum of 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address.
- Commitment to driving a Royal Mail van daily and the ability to successfully pass a driving assessment.
- Excellent physical fitness, including the capacity for long-distance walking (up to 12 miles/20,000+ steps), climbing stairs/hills, and lifting/carrying mailbags weighing over 10kg.
- Demonstrated reliability and self-motivation.
- Strong organizational skills and the resilience to manage a busy workload, particularly during peak times.
- A customer-centric approach with a dedication to providing outstanding service.
- Comfort working independently and outdoors.
