Role Overview

The Plumber will be responsible for keeping all hotel plumbing infrastructure in proper working order, ensuring smooth daily operations and quick resolution of guest and departmental maintenance concerns.

Key Duties

• Carry out inspections, upkeep, and repairs for plumbing systems, fixtures, and related equipment across the property.
• Identify the cause of issues such as leaks, clogs, low water pressure, and drainage faults, then fix them effectively.
• Fit and change pipes, valves, taps, pumps, water heaters, and sanitary fixtures as needed.
• Complete scheduled preventive maintenance for plumbing assets in line with the hotel’s maintenance plan.
• Keep water supply, drainage, sewage, and irrigation systems operating correctly.
• Act quickly on maintenance requests from guest rooms and hotel departments.
• Complete repairs in a way that keeps disruption to hotel operations to a minimum.
• Work with other Engineering colleagues on maintenance jobs and renovation activity.
• Provide emergency maintenance support on a 24-hour basis when required.
• Follow hotel safety rules, internal procedures, and applicable local regulations.
• Handle and store tools, equipment, and materials safely.
• Keep workshops and work areas tidy and well organized.
• Escalate safety issues or risks to the Engineering Supervisor without delay.
• Perform regular checks on plumbing systems and equipment.
• Track water usage and look for ways to improve conservation.
• Keep maintenance logs accurate and close out work orders promptly.
• Support initiatives that reduce water and energy consumption.
• Interact with guests and coworkers in a professional, courteous manner.
• Deliver maintenance work that aligns with Fairmont quality standards and supports guest satisfaction.
• Respond efficiently to guest plumbing complaints and concerns.

Requirements

• High school education or a technical/vocational qualification in Plumbing or a closely related trade.
• At least 2 to 3 years of plumbing experience, ideally gained in a hotel, resort, or similar commercial environment.
• Solid understanding of plumbing networks, water distribution, drainage, pumps, and sanitary equipment.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and maintenance manuals.
• Working knowledge of health and safety requirements.
• Competent English communication skills.
• Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and public holidays if needed.
