This role is accountable for production performance and for advancing the company’s key operational measures, including SQDCI, TPS, OTD, and continuous improvement efforts, in line with the organization’s mission and the needs of the assigned product line.

What you will do

  • Oversee and steer all plant operations in alignment with the company mission and performance targets.
  • Partner with production and departmental leaders to deliver manufacturing goals on time, within budget, and with efficient use of lean methods.
  • Create, manage, and execute the plant budget with a focus on profitability and improvement initiatives.
  • Apply cost-control measures across operating spend, staffing, wages, salaries, and capital improvement projects.
  • Track and improve safety, output, and quality results in collaboration with CI managers and safety teams.
  • Reduce labour costs, overtime, premium freight, and repair-related expenses wherever possible.
  • Maintain the plant’s equipment and facilities, and initiate replacement or adjustment requests when needed, working with senior leaders and technical teams on specifications.
  • Coordinate with R&D and support functions to test and launch new materials and product lines.
  • Align production planning and plant coordination with managers and the VP & GM of Canada to support overall manufacturing goals.
  • Lead the rollout of safety practices and preventive maintenance programs, while keeping cleanliness and safe shop-floor conditions front and centre.
  • Work with process engineering teams to keep shop-floor organization efficient and production flow smooth.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and training to help teams meet company objectives and KPI targets.
  • Guide, develop, and support managerial staff.
  • Recruit, train, develop, and evaluate employees, and take corrective action promptly and in line with company policy, consulting HR, Legal, or corporate teams as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 7 years of experience in a manufacturing setting, ideally in the door and window or lumber industries, with preference for prior door pre-hanging experience.
  • Strong practical knowledge of production improvement approaches such as SQDCI, TPS, OTD, and continuous improvement methods.
  • Solid understanding of business operations, finance, and quality control systems and standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, technical, and problem-solving ability, with the confidence to drive process improvements through the production environment.
  • Ability to coach and mentor managers while reinforcing the company’s mission and values across the plant.
  • Strong motivational skills and the ability to train managers and frontline teams in CI practices.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills for interaction with corporate leaders, managers, employees, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Clear understanding of KPI targets, corporate goals, and profitability objectives.
  • Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, and procedure documents.
  • Ability to present information effectively and answer questions from internal and external audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant software tools.
  • Strong knowledge of plant-level and provincial health and safety requirements.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15%.
